Bristol

Our last night in Plymouth, we walked down the street to a little pub for dinner.
Terry had a large red wine (she always has a large glass), which she initially thought was not so good.  As dinner wore on she decided it was growing on her and she ordered a second small glass (most places we have found over here you can order wine by the small, medium or large glass).   She then decided she liked the large glass better and that the wine tasted much better in the large glass.  I am getting a little concerned about her wine consumption.  Ha.  While she is concerned about my kleptomania, I may have to see about getting her the into a alcohol rehab program.

Thank goodness no one has offered her a plastic glass yet.  That would almost make her drink beer.

We said a fond farewell to the 62 steps next morning as we waited for our taxi to the train station.

Arrived in Bristol where it is a beautiful sunny day and it is warm.  No sweater required.  Our apartment is called "Cabot Mews",

which is close to city centre and Cabot Circus, a huge pedestrian shopping and restaurant area.  We are on the ground floor.

Thank you LORD!  No Steps.

We walked down to the shopping area to find a small grocery store where we stocked up on breakfast goodies and of course a bottle of wine or two.

After dropping those off at the apartment, we decided to try and find the "Volunteer Pub", which trip advisor had great reviews on, and it was close-by.  We dutifully got the directions on the map and set off to look for it.  It, of course, wasn't where we four retired expert map readers had pinpointed its location.  Ask one pedestrian who had no idea.  Ask a bicycler and he said I think it is around here and said "I'll look for you".  He whizzed away and a few seconds later was back and said, "Just around the corner" on the next little street over.  In our defense, the streets around this little mews are not very well marked.

Note that I have on sandals

It was worth the effort, as the food was excellent.  Terry, JoAnne and Ginger had the steak

and I had the Pie of the day (as in chicken pie with mushrooms in a phyllo crust).  Quite delish.  Headed back to get in our jammies and do a little laundry.  Pretty little park area on our Redcross St.

Woke this morning to rain, so we are staying in to rest and do more laundry.
