Down the mountain Myrdal to Flam

The Flåm Line (Flåmsbana) is a 20.2-kilometer (12.6 mi) long railway line between Myrdal and Flåm in AurlandNorway. A branch line of the Bergen Line, it runs through the valley of Flåmsdalen and connects the mainline with Sognefjord. The line's elevation difference is 863 meters (2,831 ft); it has ten stations, twenty tunnels and one bridge. Because of its steep gradient and picturesque nature, the Flåm Line is now almost exclusively a tourist service and has become the third-most visited tourist attraction in Norway.
Inside the car of the train

A stop at these gorgeous falls

and back on the train-spectacular vistas
See the zigzag road - Myrdalsberget - Rallarvegan is an old construction road with 21 hairpin turns as it ascends Myrdalsberget.  Today the road is a popular cycling and walking track.  It was built in 1893.

Reminds me a bit of Yosemite

Arrived Flam- Not much of a town - couple hotels and port for Sognefjord cruises - but cute

We have about an hour to wander around before boarding our cruise boat

Not our boat- but it tells you how deep the fjord is to accomodate a ship of this size
Our boat with Norelde Line
It has a double keel (one each side - so smoothe and fast
the harbor - really beautiful place
Departing the harbor and into the Sognefjord at around 4:30 PM
