We are off to Aberdeen on the train where we pick up our next rental car. I'm personally checking the TIRE RIMS for scratches
Blogging as we travel
We arrived in Aberdeen and picked up our car. Oh Geez, it's practically new. No rim scratches. As we left the city, I noted that the Skene Castle (now Skene House and privately owned by an Aberdeen Plastc Surgeon) was just a short distance off our route to Elgin where we are staying. My maternal Grandmother came from a line of Skeen's who are distantly related to this line of Skene's in Scotland. So we took the road to Lyne of Skene (a very small village) to see if we could find the castle. It was just down a road outside of the village and we drove by it and deciding it could not be seen from the road, we turned around to head back to the main road. All of a sudden, there was a sign that said Skene House. Seeing a lady in her yard, we stopped to ask if we could drive down the private road to the house and she said we could as it went right past the Castle/House that is connected to my family and would not disturb them.
I think perhaps the Skeen's in my family were the poor relations
As we headed back to the main road we past the Loch of Skene. Prominent family name in these parts. In due time, we arrived at our B & B Parrandier, which is an old Elgin church that has been turned into a B&B. It's owner is a German named Andre and the Chef is Polish. His name is Kris. The B&B has retained as much of the original church as it could and is sitting in the middle of a beautiful green area outside of the town of Elgin. Once we were settled in, we were served a wondeful dinner of fresh salad, Scottish Broth (Lamb Stew) that was delicious and a brownie for dessert. Paired with a nice California Merlot and candle light, it was a most relaxing and delightful dinner Scottish dinner. I'm sitting here now in our bedroom looking out the bedroom window at the oak trees and fields all around.
